With so many alarm companies to choose from how do you know which ones are the best?

How can you tell if the alarm company that you choose can be trusted to protect your property and loved ones?

The answer is to look for a company that has a CSAA Five Diamond Central Monitoring Station and one that is certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) such as UL or FM.

 Alarmco is CSAA FIVE DIAMOND and UL (Underwriters Laboratory) Certified.  We are also FM (Factory Mutual) approved. 

What is CSAA?

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) is the foremost trade association representing alarm companies that operate Central Monitoring Stations.  CSAA represents the interests of alarm companies that utilize the services of a CSAA-approved Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), such as UL, FM and/or ETL. 

What is the function of an NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory) in the alarm industry?

Central Monitoring Stations that are certified by UL, FM and/or ETL allow themselves to be randomly inspected and tested by the NRTL(s) that they are certified by.  These periodic inspections usually include an examination of the infrastructure at the company to ensure that it meets or exceeds the requirements set forth in the NRTL’s guidelines.  NRTL inspectors also visit certified sites that are monitored and serviced by that company to verify that the equipment used at those sites is approved by the NRTL and maintained in a manner consistent with their standards.

What is the CSAA Five Diamond program?

One of the many ways that CSAA has benefited the industry is by establishing a comprehensive and standardized training program for the purpose of educating and certifying Central Station Operators.  Alarmco is a Five Diamond Certified company which means that all of our operators have passed the first level CSAA training course.  In fact each operator at Alarmco is required to pass the first level and the second (advanced operator) training courses offered by CSAA.  They are also subject to an intensive and on-going in house training program in order to maintain the highest level of customer service.
